State Chapters

Power of Pawns has established three chapters across the United States: Wisconsin, California, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. We are seeking nominations from high school students who are interested in promoting chess nationwide and sharing their knowledge with youth across the country.

Every event we host is designed with intention, from the atmosphere we create to the way each session flows.

Arovon Mukhopadhyay (Director/Tutor)

Wisconsin Chapter Volunteers

My name is Arovon Mukhopadhyay, and I am a sophomore at Brookfield Central High School located in Brookfield, Wisconsin. I first picked up the game of chess at the age of 10, and ever since then, chess has been an important part of my life.  Chess has taught me several life lessons that I can implement anywhere. I have learned how to think critically and outside of the box, how to remain calm in tough situations, and also to be confident enough to teach others, all through the game of chess. Additionally, I have been able to achieve several accomplishments, with my most notable one being beating a CM in a nationally ranked tournament. Therefore, a year and a half ago, I had been granted the opportunity to teach kids of all ages how to excel in chess, all for completely free. Teaching has always been something that I always wanted to do, and it truly has changed my life for the better. Over the next few years, I commit myself to continue to expand my knowledge and teaching efforts to as many people I can, however, my overall goal is to outreach to thousands of people worldwide.
